John Lloyd -
Board Member
John Lloyd was born and raised on the Westside of the City of Chicago. He graduated from Austin High. John realized his artist talent early on. In grammar school he would take super heroes from comic books and put his friends’ faces on them and sell them for 3 cents to 10 cents.

Later on in his artistic experience he did his first commission job for the Austin Bank where he drew a mural of the galaxy on the entrance way wall. He was paid his first commission of $500.

His education in art continued at Washburn Trade School where he studied interior design. As a community artist he was also privileged to conduct workshops for teachers to teach children mask making and dramatic play.

John married the late Jennifer Locke a former Chicago school teacher. John and Jennifer formed “Locke Lloyd Productions” specializing in face painting, mask making and dramatic arts. Locke Lloyd Productions performed at the first “Taste of Chicago”. LLP collaborated with local artist such as Luther Woodley aka “Kush Bey”, Jennifer Locke, Luckie Robinson & Tony Stevens.

John has also collaborated with organizations such as The South Shore Cultural Center where he sits as part of the advisory council, ETA Creative Arts Foundation, Renaissance Black Arts & Culture African Festival, and Mind Influence Attitude, Inc. 501(c)(3) where he currently is also a board member and Director of the Creative Arts Program. John also spoke at the Chicago Teacher Center where he conducted workshops and taught art at Columbia University.

As a business man, he is also a general contractor rehabbing buildings, along with the founder of Illinois Private Training Investigation and Security Agency.

Being somewhat of the Renaissance man that he is, John’s life goal is to educate people for the empowerment of the family and community.
